Ariane Middel received a Master of Science degree in Geodetic Engineering and Geoinformation at the University of Bonn, Germany, in 2003. Two years later, she became a member of the International Research Training Group Kaiserslautern, funded by the German Research Foundation DFG, and earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, in 2008. Her research interests include geovisualization and urban heat islands.
